The StrengthPortal platform was designed to have the flexibility to meet the needs of a variety of different fitness business. When we begin our relationship with a new business we ask several questions to ensure that the account settings match your needs:

Does your company offer a classic training model or an open model?

Open model: Built in 2020 as we started to expand our customer base into personal training studios the StrengthPortal Open model became the default account setting for new accounts in October 2023. Our team defines this model as follows - Every trainer at a location (or potentially across multiple locations) has the potential to work with any client to guide them through their workout  program.  Here's how this will look to a trainer in each scenario:

  • Single location: As a trainer I log in and will view every client in the company account in my client management list. When new clients are added to the account they will show up in my list automatically. When I click into a client's profile I'll view all workout programs and data that has been tracked with labels to identify who did what. When I click into a workout program I have the ability to edit and manage it automatically.
  • Multi-location: As a trainer I log in and will view every client across every company location in my client management list. When new clients are added to the company accounts they will show up in my list automatically.  When I click into a client's profile I'll view all workout programs and data that has been tracked with labels to identify who did what. When I click into a workout program I have the ability to edit and manage it automatically.

Classic model: The classic model, designed with large multi-location gym chains in mind and supported since 2018)  assumes that the trainers in your organization will have 1on1 training relationships with their clients. As a trainer I would write a workout program for my client, meet with them several times a month, and I'll be the only one to work with them. To support this experience for trainers we only will list out the clients they've identified as clients in their client management list. To support this training model even further, if a trainer enrolls a workout program to a client they will be the only user that can edit and manage the program. This prevents scenarios such as co-workers editing your programs and adjusting clients workout data.
